How Title Case works here

Style guides such as AP and Chicago differ in details, but they agree on the core: capitalize the important words and keep short articles, conjunctions and prepositions lowercase, unless they start or end the title.

  • Right: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Cat
  • Wrong: A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Cat

The converter also capitalizes the word after a colon, as in Night Studio: A Small Story.

Need a specific style guide? Check its rules for long prepositions like "between" or "through". The converter keeps those capitalized.

When to use each case

  1. Art titles: Title Case in your portfolio and shop.
  2. Captions: Sentence case reads like a friendly voice.
  3. Spreadsheets of artworks: UPPERCASE for consistent IDs.
  4. File names: remove accents and spaces to avoid broken links.

The live counter

Below the result you see characters, words and lines. Handy for bios with limits, alt text and contest entries with word counts.
