A bio template for artists
A good artist bio answers three questions fast: what you make, what people can do next, and how to reach you.
- Line 1: your artist name in a signature style.
- Line 2: your medium in plain words, like "oil painter" or "digital illustrator".
- Line 3: a detail that feels like you: city, studio pet, current series.
- Line 4: a call to action, like "commissions open ✉ DM".
Ready-made lines to copy:
How to title an art post
Title the piece, then tell its story in plain text. Your followers read the title; search reads the rest.
How to center your bio
Instagram keeps the line breaks you type. To nudge a line toward the center, paste blank characters from the invisible text tool at the start of the line.
Mistakes that hide your art
- Name fully in exotic letters. Search cannot match 乚ム尺ム to "Lara".
- Styled hashtags. #𝓪𝓻𝓽 is not the same tag as #art. Keep hashtags plain.
- No plain text at all. New visitors need to understand your page in three seconds.
Questions artists ask
Why can’t I use fancy letters in my Instagram username?
Usernames accept only letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Use fancy letters in your Name and Bio.
Do fancy fonts hurt my reach on Instagram?
In your Name and hashtags they can, because search does not match styled letters to plain words. In your bio and caption titles the effect is small.
Do these fonts look the same on iPhone and Android?
The characters are the same, but each system draws them with its own fonts, so shapes differ slightly. Bold and script look very similar everywhere.
How do I make highlight covers with text?
Build a 1080 × 1920 story canvas in the Lettering Studio, export it, and use it as your highlight cover.
